speed to weight ratio. Wagons are generally heavier with different drivetrain and suspension...needed for the extra hauling they are intended for. Not really built for speed and economics. 5 door hb's are geared more for passengers with the luxury of fold-down seats in-case they need extra space for stuff. HB's are a convenience factor in an economical compact car.
