| okay so my car the turbo is right down almost to the ground, because of this i cant winter drive because salt will fly up. then i got thinking, if salt will fly up what about small rocks and stuff. so say i took sheet metal and put it under my turbo so that if something flys up it hits that instead of going into the turbo do you think it would be safe to winter drive? ,,,,, personally not sure i want to winter drive because the body is in mint shape minus a scratch, but thats what undercoat is for?,.,,, just want some opinions. | |

| You'd be crazy to winter drive it in my opinion. How do you figure stuff could get into the turbo though?! Don't you have a filter on it? | |

you know what works really good? Let the turbo suck up a bit of sand... it polishes the internals of the turbo and the ports of the head and improves flow... just don't over do it.... wouldn't want ya to blow anything disclaimer: Attempt at own risk, not legally responsible if you or anyone else who reads this are stupid enough to actually try this

| LOL....I'm glad VW's have that plastic shield that covers the lower part of the engine from road debris....then again, our turbo is in the rear of the engine Coady....try calling SWHonda and see if you can geta plastic shield for your year/make??? I'm quite sure whoever built your car threw the old one out. It would sure beat fabricating some kind of ghetto-metal shield IMHO...unless that's what you're into... | |

| The plastic cover isn't really the issue. You need to get a filter on the turbo asap.
You've already sucked a lot of dirt into the motor and I bet when you look at the fins they're going to be beat. Think about what that's doing to your motor.

I doubt you'll find a filter to fit, look how close the inlet is to the tranny case you're best bet is to get some screen and run 2 layers with a crossed pattern and use a hose clamp to secure it over the inlet i don't even wanna think of the shit you sucked into your engine.... i don't understand who you thought it would be a good idea to even start the car in that condition

| I wouldn't even have the balls to test drive the car without a filter on it. Could you fit one of these? | |

| good fucking luck... look were the inlet sits in relation to the transmission case... there is probably a reason why there was never a filter on it... no way in hell you'll fit a filter on there horrible fucking design IMO | |

| you'd be amazed how many of your favourite BT cars are running around with a piece of screen or pantyhose over the inlet of the turbo....... You'd probably also be surprised at how little damage is incurred from stuff getting "sucked" up into your engine bay. | |

a piece of screen is one thing, which i have already suggested... having nothing on the inlet is just fucking stupidity
